Common Plumbing Questions Answered - FAQ

1) Do you offer emergency plumbing service?

Yes. If you have an active leak, no hot water, a sewer backup, or a situation that could cause damage, call us and we’ll help you triage the issue and schedule the fastest available service.

2) What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Caldwell and commonly serve Caldwell, Nampa, Meridian, Boise, and surrounding Treasure Valley areas. (Including: Greenleaf, Marsing, Homedale, Parma, Melba, Wilder, Sand Hallow, New Plymouth, Payette and more! )

3) Do you provide free estimates?

We provide upfront pricing and clear options once we understand the issue. For many repairs we can give a price range over the phone, then confirm final pricing on-site after diagnosis.  Occasionally some estimates turn into more work than expected with city code research etc. and we may bill a small fee.  (But we would be completely up front and let you know before it would come to that)

4) Why do my drains keep clogging?

Recurring clogs are usually caused by grease/food buildup, hair/soap scum, mineral scale, roots in the sewer line, or a belly/sag in the pipe. If it’s happening repeatedly, a deeper clean or camera inspection may be the next step.

5) Can you unclog a drain without harsh chemicals?

Yes. We typically clear drains mechanically (auger/snake) and, when appropriate, use professional cleaning methods rather than relying on chemical drain cleaners that can damage pipes.

6) What are signs my water heater is failing?

Rusty water, popping noises, leaks, inconsistent hot water, slow recovery, or a pilot/ignition that won’t stay lit are common warning signs. If your unit is older, replacement may be more cost-effective than repeated repairs.

7) Is a tankless water heater worth it in Idaho?

Often, yes. Tankless units can provide continuous hot water and improved efficiency. The best fit depends on your household demand, gas/electrical setup, venting, and water quality.

8) Do you install tankless water heaters?

Yes. We install tankless water heaters and can recommend sizing and layout based on your home’s needs.   We are in face a Rinnai Professional.

9) How do I know if I need a repipe?

Common signs include frequent leaks, low water pressure, discolored water, noisy pipes, or old pipe materials that are failing. We can inspect and recommend the best repair vs repipe option.

10) Why is my water pressure low?

Low pressure can come from a failing pressure regulator, partially closed shutoff valve, clogged aerators, mineral buildup, leaks, or issues with older piping. We’ll diagnose the cause and provide options.

11) Do you work on bathrooms and remodel plumbing?

Yes. We handle plumbing for bathroom remodels and additions including rough-in, fixture set, valves, drains, and final connections.

12) What should I do if I have a water leak right now?

Turn off the nearest shutoff valve (fixture valve or main shutoff), avoid using water, and call us. If you can’t find the shutoff, we can help you locate it when we arrive.

13) Where is my home’s main water shut-off valve located?

In most homes, the main water shut-off is located where the water service enters the house. Common locations include the basement, crawlspace, utility room, garage, or near an exterior wall at the front of the home. In some cases, it may be outside in a meter box near the street.

14) Why is it important to know where my main shut-off is?

Knowing where your main shut-off is can prevent major water damage during a leak, burst pipe, or plumbing emergency. Shutting the water off quickly can save thousands of dollars in repairs.

15) What should I do if I can’t find or operate my main shut-off valve?

If the valve is stuck, broken, or hard to locate, it’s best not to force it. Call a plumber to help locate it or replace it with a modern, easy-to-operate valve.  – Give us a call!
